Russia Ukraine Crisis: The Indian government is taking all possible measures to bring back Indian citizens from war-torn Ukraine. Giving information about the government’s efforts, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said on Wednesday that about 17,000 Indians have left Ukraine since the Russian attack on Ukraine. At the same time, 3,352 people have returned to India in 15 flights so far. Arindam Bagchi said that Indian Air Force aircraft have joined Operation Ganga with the first C-17 flight from Bucharest (Romania). Arindam Bagchi told that the ministry said that we are exploring options to reach eastern Ukraine to help in evacuating the citizens trapped there. We are looking to see if our teams can get there, it is not easy because the road is not open all the time.
The Embassy (in Kyiv) was asked to set up a temporary office in Lviv to facilitate border crossings by Indians. A substantial segment of our Embassy team is now at Lviv for this purpose. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson said that the Embassy in Kyiv was asked to set up a temporary office in Lviv to facilitate the crossing of the border by Indians. A large part of our embassy team is now in Lviv for this purpose.
All possible help to Indian students
External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said a mechanism has been put in place to issue emergency certificates to those who have lost their Indian passports. He said, I think this will also help many Indian students.
Another student dies in Ukraine
The Ministry of External Affairs said that Chandan Jindal, an Indian citizen living in Ukraine, died of natural causes on Wednesday. He was in the hospital for the past few days. His family also lives in Ukraine.
