Corona virus outbreak continues in China. 16 thousand 412 new patients of COVID-19 have been found in the country. It is reported that this is the biggest figure since the start of the corona epidemic in the year 2020. The condition of many cities in China, and especially Shanghai, is worse. The World Health Organization has already expressed concern about the increasing corona infection in many countries.
According to media reports, new patients of COVID are being found in more than 27 provinces and cities of China. Most of these are infected with the rapidly spreading Omicron variant of the corona. Due to this, the authorities have to enforce strict restrictions in the areas. At the same time, the country’s army has also taken a front in the war against Corona.
Things are looking worse in Shanghai. The lockdown has been extended for the COVID investigation of more than 2 crore residents here. The two-phase lockdown started in the city on March 28. At the moment, officials have not given information about when these restrictions will be lifted. Apart from this, patients without symptoms are also a cause for concern. On Monday, 8 thousand 581 asymptomatic cases were reported in the city. Whereas, the number of symptomatic cases stood at 425.
Here, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has dispatched more than 2000 thousand personnel from Army, Navy and Logistic Support. There are already 38 thousand health workers in the city. It is believed that this is China’s biggest exercise in the field of public health after Wuhan. In the year 2019, the novel corona virus was found for the first time in Wuhan.
It is reported that a subtype of Omicron variant has been found in the sample received from a COVID patient. However, the new iteration evolved from Omicron’s BA.1.1 branch and does not match any other strains carrying the current wave in China.
