Mumbai’s young batsman Siddharth Mohite has created a world record by batting in the nets for 72 hours and five minutes (4325 minutes). He has become the player to stay at the crease for the longest time. However, he is waiting for this record to be recognized by Guinness World Records. He has applied for the same. Mohite broke compatriot Virag Mane’s seven-year-old record.
Virag Mane batted continuously for 50 hours. The 19-year-old Mohite remained at the crease for 72 hours and five minutes last weekend. Mohite said about this, “I wanted to do this for a long time. I am happy that I was successful in my endeavour. I was trying to show people that I too can do something by doing this.” Mohit was helped a lot by his coach Jwala Singh in batting for more than 72 hours.
Everyone was forbidding Mohite to do so, but she fulfilled her insistence. Mohite said, “Everyone was denying me for this. I contacted Jwala sir again. He supported me. Also gave me everything I needed. ”There was a whole group of bowlers to get Mohite to bat.
According to the rules, Mohite was given rest for five minutes after every one hour. His batting was also recorded. That recording and related papers have been sent to be named in the Guinness World Records. Mohite said that two years were wasted due to Corona. So I wanted to do something different.
Coach Jwala Singh said, “Mohite was a member of the MCC Pro-40 League before the Corona epidemic. His mother had contacted me, but everything was closed due to the lockdown. After that he contacted me about this. I was also not prepared about this, but knew that many players’ years have been wasted due to Corona. So I agreed to do something different with him.
