UP 4th Phase Voting: The voting for the fourth phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 will be held on Wednesday. Voting will be held in 59 assembly seats in nine districts in this phase. Like in the previous phases, voting will start from 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has said that the fate of 624 candidates will be decided in this phase. In this phase, voting will be held in 59 assembly seats in nine districts including Lakhimpur Kheri, Rae Bareli, Unnao, Lucknow and Pilibhit. The BJP had won 51 seats in the region in 2017. Voting in Uttar Pradesh has been held in three phases so far. The fourth phase of polling will be held on February 23, while the remaining three phases will go to polls on February 27 and March 3 and 7. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
Voting will also be held in Lakhimpur Kheri
Voting will also take place in Lakhimpur Kheri, which hit headlines in October last year when eight people, including four farmers and three Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers, were killed during farmers’ protests against three controversial agricultural laws.
This was the record in 2017
In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections, the ruling BJP won 51 seats out of these 59 constituencies. Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party (SP) got four seats, while Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) got only three seats. BJP’s ally Apna Dal (Sonelal) won one seat.
The credibility of these giants is at stake
Uttar Pradesh Law Minister Brajesh Pathak is in the fray from Lucknow Cantonment seat. From Lucknow East, Urban Development Minister Ashutosh Tandon is thrashing again. The honor of Union Minister Kaushal Kishor is at stake in the safe seat of Mohanlalganj, where BJP candidate Amresh Kumar is pitted against former SP MP Sushila Saroj. In Lucknow’s Sarojininagar seat, BJP has fielded Rajeshwar Singh, who entered the political arena after taking voluntary retirement from the Enforcement Directorate, after cutting the ticket of Minister Swati Singh, while the SP has also put former minister Abhishek Mishra in his way.
These ministers are trying their luck
Among the ministers, Ranvendra Pratap Singh Dhunni Hussainganj is contesting as the candidate of BJP’s ally Apna Dal (S), Jaykumar Singh Jackie from Bidki. Nitin Agarwal is the BJP candidate from Hardoi city seat. In the last election, Aditi Singh had won from Rae Bareli Sadar assembly seat, which is now contesting on a BJP ticket. Former minister Dr. Manoj Pandey is the candidate again as the Brahmin face of SP from Unchahar, while BJP has fielded State General Secretary Amarpal Maurya in his contest.
