Raghuraj Pratap Singh i.e. Raja Bhaiya has been an independent MLA from Kunda assembly seat since 1993.
Whether the power was with anyone in the state, the power of Kunda remained with Raja Bhaiya, so he went on getting stronger here.
It is said that till now he continued to get support from BJP and SP, so his support base in Kunda kept getting stronger.
He was also popular among the youth of other castes. They claim that they win elections because of the love of the people of their area.
His political career has been such that he never lost an election from Kunda.
Hard to beat in the swivel?
He is called the prince of Bhadri princely state who is very difficult to defeat in Kunda.
Due to its proximity to the SP, for the last one and a half decades, the SP did not field any candidate in Kunda in support of Raja Bhaiya.

This time he contested from Kunda from his own party Jansatta Dal and won from here for the seventh time.
In this seat, SP had fielded his close friend Gulshan Yadav in the electoral fray.
In Kunda seat, SP had fielded Gulshan Yadav to break Raghuraj’s political illusion.
His victory margin has previously been between 60,000 and 80,000 votes.
In the 2012 elections, it had crossed 88,000 votes, which is the highest in the state.
He has been known to keep increasing his margin of victory in every election. But this time they have not been able to save their old record.

But during the Rajya Sabha elections held in the year 2018, the relationship between Akhilesh Yadav and Raja Bhaiya deteriorated. After which Raja Bhaiya made his own party Jansatta Dal democratic.
