UP Assembly Elections 2022 The district has seven assembly constituencies. These seven seats include Meerut City, Meerut Cantt, Meerut South, Meerut Kithor, Siwalkhas, Sardhana and Hastinapur. In the 2017 assembly elections, the BJP won 6 assembly seats in the district, winning a massive victory. These six assembly seats included Kithor, Meerut Cantt, Dakshin Vidhan Sabha, Siwalkhas, Sardhana and Hastinapur. But this time there is a direct fight between the BJP and the SP-RLD alliance in about five of these assembly seats.
Meerut City Assembly seat
Even after the BJP wave in 2017 in Meerut city assembly seat, SP’s cycle was run here. SP’s Rafiq Ansari won this seat. While BJP’s veteran leader and state president Dr. Laxmikant Vajpayee lost the election. Hindu Muslim voters decide the scale of victory and defeat in the city seat. The election in this seat has always been on Hindu-Muslim polarization. This time BJP has fielded Kamal Dutt Sharma from this seat. On the other hand, Rafiq Ansari is in the fray from SP. But this time for the BJP, there is a tough challenge on this seat. Here the Congress is also in the fight.

cantt assembly seat
It is called Chhaprauli of BJP. This seat is with the BJP for almost two decades. Till date no one could defeat BJP on this seat. Satya Prakash Agarwal of BJP has been winning this seat for the last three elections. This time he refused to contest the election, so former MLA Amit Agarwal has been given ticket from here. There is a direct contest between the BJP and the coalition candidate on this. BJP is putting all its strength to win this seat.
Kithor assembly seat
Kithor assembly seat is considered to be Muslim majority. This seat has been occupied by SP. But in the last election i.e. in 2017 in the BJP wave, Satyaveer Tyagi won this seat and put it in the lap of the BJP. This time too, the BJP has reposed faith in Satyaveer Tyagi. At the same time, former MLA Shahid Manzoor, who was a minister in the SP government, is also in the fray from Kithor. He is the candidate of SP RLD alliance. There is a close fight between the alliance and the BJP on this seat.

Sardhana assembly seat
Most of the Thakur and Dalit-dominated seat has been occupied by the BJP. From the last two elections, Sangeet Som of BJP has been becoming MLA from here. However, SP’s Atul Pradhan has been giving him a tight stance. BJP has been getting the benefit of polarization of votes in Sardhana. But this time there is a very tough fight in Sardhana assembly seat. Sangeet Som is getting a direct competition from Gathbandhan. Congress is also giving a tough fight on this seat.
south assembly
Meerut South, once a part of Meerut Cantt, came into existence after the delimitation in 2009. Since its inception, this seat has been occupied by the BJP. Dr. Somendra Tomar of BJP has been winning elections from here. This time also BJP has fielded Dr. Somendra Tomar. But the advantage of having a large number of Muslim voters in the South Assembly seat can be given to the coalition candidate here. BSP candidates are also involved in the contest here.

Meerut Siwal Khas Assembly
Apart from Jats and Muslims, Siwal Khas assembly seat is also considered to be a Dalit majority. This seat was won by BJP candidate in 2017. This time BJP has given ticket to Maninder Pal, former District Panchayat President by cutting the ticket of sitting MLA of Siwal Khas. There is huge opposition from the BJP candidate in the area. The entry of BJP candidates has been banned in many villages. From here, Ghulam Mohammad of SP is in the fray from the alliance side. Ghulam Mohammad Pakre has also been an MLA from Siwal Khas. In Siwal Khas, there is a direct contest between the BJP and the alliance.

Meerut Hastinapur Assembly
It is said about Hastinapur of Meerut that whichever party’s MLA wins the election on this seat, the same government is formed. If you look at the history of the last three elections, in 2007, Yogesh Verma of BSP won the elections, then the BSP government was formed in the state, in 2012, when the SP won from Hastinapur, the SP government was formed in the state. When lotus blossomed on Hastinapur in 2017, BJP government was formed in the state. This time the BJP has expressed confidence in the sitting MLA Dinesh Khatik. Yogesh Verma is in the fray from the alliance. The competition in Hastinapur is very tough.
