Yogi Adityanath also performed brilliantly as an assembly candidate and won from Gorakhpur urban seat by a huge margin. He has achieved amazing achievement in the political history of UP. This is the first time in 37 years that a party has managed to regain power in Uttar Pradesh after completing its term. Earlier in 1985, Narayan Dutt Tiwari had won the state twice in a row. Before tendering his resignation on Friday, Adityanath also presided over the last cabinet meeting of the first term in Lucknow.

Demonstration of political parties in UP
BJP’s vote share in this election stood at 41.29 per cent and it won 255 seats with the alliance. The party has done a clean sweep in more than 20 districts. But compared to the last election, BJP’s seats have decreased. In 2017, BJP had won 312 seats. In such a situation, even though the BJP has been able to get a majority on its own, the voter base has shrunk.
On the other hand, Samajwadi Party of former CM Akhilesh Yadav, which came second, got 32.06 per cent votes and their alliance won 111 seats. The Samajwadi Party may not have been able to gain power, but there is an alarm bell for the BJP. In the 2017 elections, the SP had won 47 seats and this time their number of seats has more than doubled. The most worrying situation is that of the Congress, whose vote share stood at 2.33 per cent and won only two seats. Whereas BSP’s vote share stood at 12.88 per cent, but it won only one seat.
