The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday released the list of 30 candidates for the Legislative Council elections in Uttar Pradesh. The party has also given tickets to four Legislative Council Members (MLCs), who recently left the SP and joined the BJP. In the list of BJP, Narendra Bhati from SP has been given ticket from Bulandshahr seat, CP Chand from Gorakhpur Maharajganj seat, Rama Niranjan from Jhansi Jalaun Lalitpur seat and Ravi Shankar Singh Pappu from Ballia seat. It is worth noting that according to the election program released by the Election Commission for 36 seats of the Legislative Council, in the first phase, 30 seats will go to polls on April 9. The elected representatives of the local bodies will vote in the voting on these seats.
State President of BJP Yuva Morcha Pranshu Dutt Dwivedi is also included in the list of candidates. He has been made a candidate from Etawah Farrukhabad seat. Apart from this, the party’s Gorakhpur region in-charge and state general secretary Anoop Gupta has been elected from Lakhampur Kheri seat, Ramchandra Pradhan from Lucknow Unnao seat, Ashok Agarwal from Hardoi, Dinesh Pratap Singh from Rae Bareli, Satyapal Saini from Moradabad Bijnor seat, Kunar Maharaj from Rampur Bareilly seat. Singh, Vagish Pathak from Badaun, Dr. Sudhir Gupta from Pilibhit Shahjahanpur seat and Pawan Singh Chauhan from Sitapur seat have been made candidates. Chouhan is currently the co-convener of the BJP’s Educational Institute unit.
Apart from Rama Niranjan, Dr. Pragya Tripathi has been fielded from Bahraich and Vandana Mudit Verma from Muzaffarnagar-Saharanpur seat in the BJP’s list. Vandana is the wife of Mudit Verma, brother of late Shashank Shekhar, who was a cabinet minister in the BSP government. Apart from this, the party has given ticket to Ashish Yadav ‘Ashu’ from Mathura Etah Mainpuri seat. He is the son of Ramesh Yadav, the former Chairman of the Legislative Council. From the second seat of Mathura Etah Mainpuri constituency, BJP has given Omprakash Singh, Rishipal Singh from Aligarh, Dharmendra Bhardwaj from Meerut Ghaziabad seat, Vijay Shivhare from Agra Firozabad seat, Jitendra Singh Sengar from Banda Hamirpur seat, KP Srivastava from Allahabad seat, from Ghazipur. Chanchal Singh, Arun Kumar Yadav from Azamgarh Mau seat and Ratan Pal Singh from Deoria have been made candidates. Ratan Pal has been the President of Gorakhpur University. Hari Om Pandey from Faizabad seat, Awadhesh Singh Manju from Gonda, Angad Kumar Singh from Barabanki and Hari Pratap Singh from Pratapgarh will be the BJP candidates.
