The government has done a double job by making women of Self Help Groups (SHGs) Vidyut Sakhi. Along with distributing the electricity bill to the consumers in rural and urban areas, Bijli Sakhi women are also helping the government in recovery of the bill amount and are also becoming financially capable themselves. Not only this, women are now giving the facility to the people to collect the bills from their homes.
These women have so far deposited the electricity bill amount of Rs 110 crore in the treasury of the electricity department.
Under the Vidyut Sakhi Yojana, the National Rural Livelihood Mission is engaged in the work of making 15521 groups of women Vidyut Sakhi in the entire state. At present 8746 Vidyut Sakhis have started work in urban and rural areas.
