Indian lifestyle e-mobility startup VAAN Electric Moto Pvt Ltd has launched its electric cycle Urbansport in the country. The Union Minister of State for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Electronics and IT, Rajiv Chandrasekhar has launched this electric cycle during a virtual event held in Kochi. This electric cycle has been introduced with a total of two variants UrbanSport and UrbanSport Pro, whose price has been fixed at Rs 59,999 and Rs 69,999 respectively.
Initially, the company will sell this electric cycle in Kochi, after which it will also be introduced in cities like Goa, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Delhi. The company claims that this electric vehicle is capable of running at a maximum speed of 25 kilometers per hour and with the assistance of pedals it can be driven up to 60 kilometers.

VAAN claims that this electric cycle requires only half a unit of electricity to be fully charged, that is, you will have to spend only 4 to 5 rupees for this. It has a removable battery pack, whose total weight is 2.5 kg, which takes about 4 hours to fully charge. It can be charged easily by connecting to a home socket.
According to the information shared by the company, this electric bicycle has been built on a compact 6061 aluminum unisex frame. This includes the saddle, rims and handlebars designed by Benelli Bisiclet, the Italian brand’s e-bike vertical. The company has tied up with them for engineering and supply chain and has worked closely with the Benelli team to manufacture this cycle.

VAAN claims that this is the first time that removable battery packs have been used in the segment. The bicycle comes with Shimano Tourney 7 speed derailleur gear system, front and rear disc brakes and Spinner USA front shocks. Electric pedal assist system is powered by a 250W electric motor, which draws power from a 48V battery.
The VAAN Urbansport e-bike gets a smart LCD display serving all the necessary information, which can also be used to control the front and rear lights. Equipped with 5 gears, this electric bicycle gets 20-inch spoke wheels. The company is giving a two-year warranty for the battery of this electric bicycle and this cycle runs from 50 km to 60 km in different modes on a single charge.
Jithu Sukumaran Nair, CEO and Founder, VAAN Electric Mobility, said, “The company’s plant in Ernakulam has a capacity to assemble 2,000 cycles a month, and was initially targeted to sell 8,000 to 10,000 cycles a year. Initially we targeted youths as our target customers but now we are also focusing on people in the age group of 40 to 55 years.”
