There are plans to run intercity trains between short distance cities. The average speed of the intercity train will be around 130 kilometers. It has been specially designed for short distances.
New Delhi. Indian Railways has taken another big step to increase facilities for the common man. First it started running Vande Bharat train for long distances and now it has made preparations to run intercity trains between short distance cities. Indian Railways has named it ‘Vande Metro’ and for the first time on Friday, pictures of this train have also come out. You can clearly see in the pictures that this train will give the passengers a feeling of Europe.
Indian Railways said that the average speed of this intercity train running between two cities will be around 130 km per hour. This train, which will be run by the name of Vande Metro or Vande Bharat Metro, is completely inspired by Vande Bharat. With its launch, comfortable travel will be possible even between cities located at short distances. It has been specially designed for short distances.
100 passengers will be able to sit in one bogie of Vande Metro train.
What is special about the train?
As already told to you, the average speed of this train will be 130 km per hour and it will run between cities at a distance of 100 to 250 km. For example, this train will run between Delhi and other nearby cities including Mathura and Agra. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had told about this project in February 2023 last year.
no engine needed
The most special thing about Vande Metro is that it will not require a separate engine. The engine will be installed in its bogies itself, which will run the train at a speed of 130. All the coaches will be fully air conditioned and will provide a dust free environment. Each bogie will have seats for 100 passengers. Apart from this, separate bogies will also be installed for standing travel, which will accommodate 200 passengers.
Facility for 200 passengers to travel standing will also be provided in Vande Metro.
Information from the LCD display
Along with comfortable chairs, LCD displays will also be installed in the Vande Metro train to provide information to the passengers. Apart from this, an anti-collision system called Kavach will also be installed to protect the train from any kind of collision or accident. The railways have planned to conduct trials of these bogies in July, after which they will be put on the track.
Two prototypes of Vande Metro train have been prepared.
Which cities will get the facility
The report said that the Railways is preparing to run these trains in 124 cities of the country. This will include major cities like Lucknow-Kanpur, Agra-Mathura, Delhi-Mathura, Bhubaneswar-Balasore and Tirupati-Chennai. The Railways will initially run 12 Vande Metro trains and 12 coaches will also be installed in each train.
