In a statement, the Election Commission said, “In Macherla Assembly Constituency, EVMs were damaged at seven polling stations including PS No. (polling station number) 202 where the incident of damaging the EVM by sitting MLA P Ramakrishna Reddy was recorded on web camera.” Returning Officer (CEO) Mukesh Kumar Meena reached the office late on Tuesday night.
Keeping in view the seriousness of the matter, the Election Commission has taken a serious view of this development and has also directed the CEO to take strict criminal action against all persons involved and to inform DGP Harish Kumar Gupta for doing so. Have given instructions.
