Bettiah. After Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, now there is news of communal violence from Bettiah in Bihar. The violence took place late on Wednesday night. Half a dozen policemen and a dozen locals were injured in the violence. According to the police, both the sides pelted stones fiercely for about two and a half hours. DM and SP reached the spot, but it was not possible to control the situation. According to SP Upendra Nath Verma, there was a dispute between the children and on seeing the elders also jumped into it and there was fierce violence in the area. Local people say that there was a wedding in the locality and the DJ was playing when the procession came. Controversy started over dancing.
Disputes between the children escalated. After which the people of two communities came face to face. Arguments ensued and then stone pelting ensued. People threw so many bricks and stones that they had to call JCB to remove them later. According to the SP, the in-charge of the Kalibagh police station was also hit in the violence. He has been admitted to the hospital. Late in the night, the police controlled the crowd after a lot of effort. The SP said that the police of several police stations had to be called on the spot to stop the violence. At present, the police is writing a case against the culprits. The injured are also being treated.
