Chandigarh. You will remember that don and mafia Mukhtar Ansari was kept in jail in Punjab. During that time, Yogi Adityanath’s government had to take the support of the Supreme Court to bring him from Punjab to UP. Now it has been revealed that the then Congress government of Punjab had adopted every trick to save Mukhtar from the Yogi government. Punjab Jail Minister Harjot Bains has disclosed this in the assembly. According to Bains, Mukhtar was also being given VIP facility in Punjab jail by the then Congress government.
The issue of keeping Mukhtar Ansari in Punjab jail for two and a half years was raised in the assembly today.

Responding to a question in the assembly, Harjot Bains started revealing one by one the facilities given to the Mukhtar of the then Congress government of Punjab. The Punjab Jail Minister said that Mukhtar was kept in Ropar jail for two years and three months. That too by filing a fake case. Bains told that during this time the VIP facility was given to the mafia Mukhtar in the jail. He made a sensational claim that the barrack where Mukhtar was kept could accommodate 25 prisoners, but at the behest of the Punjab government, the jail administration allowed Mukhtar to stay with his wife in that barrack.
The Punjab Jail Minister further revealed that for the legal battle that the Punjab government fought in the Supreme Court for not sending Mukhtar Ansari to UP, a senior lawyer who took Rs 11 lakh per appearance was hired. He told that during the hearing in the Supreme Court, the Punjab government spent 55 lakh rupees on this lawyer. Harjot Bains said that in this way 5.5 lakh people of Punjab got Rs 55 lakh as loan. Bains said that he has ordered a full inquiry into the matter. In such a situation, there is a possibility of more serious revelations in this matter in the coming days.
