Lucknow. After ordering the survey of madrasas, now the eyes of UP CM Yogi Adityanath have turned towards the Waqf property. On his instructions, the government has issued an order to investigate and demarcate the common properties of Waqf. Among these properties there are lands like Barren, Usar, Bhita. The Yogi government has also canceled the 1989 mandate of the Revenue Department in this regard. The report of the investigation has been sought from all the districts in a month. Let us inform that there have been reports of illegal occupation of Waqf properties many times. Shakeel Ahmed Siddiqui, deputy secretary in the UP government, has written a letter to the commissioners and DMs of all the districts to investigate the waqf properties.
It has been said in this letter that the rules have been ignored in the provision of registration of property in Waqf Act 1995 and UP Muslim Waqf Act 1960. An order was also issued in 1989 to record the Waqf properties in the revenue records in a proper manner. Under this, it was found that the properties of Waqf are mostly registered in Banjar, Usar and Bhita. These lands need to be properly recorded and demarcated in the revenue records. The government directive states that there are public properties under gram sabhas and municipal bodies. They are used in the public interest. It is against the law to change the management and nature of these lands under the 1989 order.
The 1989 order has been quashed due to registration of non-Waqf properties in Waqf. Let us tell you that since the last few days, the dispute regarding the properties of Waqf has also started. An application to repeal the Waqf Act has also been given in the Supreme Court. Waqf boards have the largest land holding in the country after the army and railways. Waqf boards have 854509 properties. These properties are on more than 8 lakh acres of land.
