New Delhi. The police team of South District Cyber Police Station has arrested an accused who was committing the crime of cheating by targeting the people of Delhi-NCR from Odisha through OLX app. The accused has been identified as Siddharth Panigrahi. He is a resident of Nayagarh market of Odisha. The police team has recovered 5 mobile phones from it. Siddharth had used 3 mobile phones to commit the crime of cheating. The accused had purchased 2 mobile phones with the money collected from cheating. It was also revealed that he was already involved in 8 criminal cases.
According to DCP Ankit Chauhan, a complaint of cheating was received by Cyber Station Police, in which it was told that the victim had to buy 25 ACs, for which he searched on OLX app and found a mobile number. On calling that number it was told that it would provide 25 ACs for just Rs 2 lakh. The victim sent the advance amount online. After sending the amount he stopped getting response. After this the victim complained about it to the police.
Police reached the accused
The team of Cyber Police SHO Arun Verma and Sub-Inspector Sandeep Saini started the investigation on the basis of bank account and mobile phone number. During investigation it was found that this phone number was being operated from Odisha. After this, the police team raided Nayagarh in Odisha and arrested the accused. Investigation revealed that he used to commit fraud by creating a fake account on OLX. He would target and fool people who were searching to buy some goods and then switch off their mobile numbers.
