After the results of the Goa assembly elections were out, now the churning has started in the BJP regarding the Chief Minister. It is likely that the Chief Minister will be sworn in after Holi. Pramod Sawant’s name as Chief Minister is almost certain, but there is speculation that senior BJP leader Vishwajit Rane is also campaigning fiercely for the post of CM. However, Rane has rubbished the speculations.
Dr Pramod Sawant, the likely chief ministerial candidate, is coming to New Delhi on Tuesday to meet party president JP Nadda and other senior party officials. Sawant said the elected members took oath today. We are going to form the government soon. Central observers will come from Delhi to elect the leader of the party. I will go to Delhi and meet the leaders.
At the same time, Vishwajit Rane while talking to India Today TV said that I am not interested for CM and the party leadership will decide my responsibility. There is no difference of opinion with anyone. Deviya Rane, newly elected MLA and wife of Vishwajit Rane, said every leader has aspirations and the name of the chief minister will be decided by the central leadership. He said that there is no camp within the BJP and there is no question of differences.
Meanwhile, controversial BJP leader Babush Monserrate said that the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), which has announced its support to the BJP, should merge with the BJP. Before the elections, the MGP had an alliance with the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and contested the assembly elections on an anti-BJP issue.
Monserrate said, “Look, we have learned a lesson.” They first preach against us and then join us. So when we have numbers and support why take them along. Therefore, to strengthen the party, MGP should be merged with BJP. MGP leader Sudin Dhavalikar issued a rebuttal saying that he had offered support to the BJP on the request of the central leadership.
