Bhopal. The trend of renaming old monuments, gardens and railway stations is in full swing these days. In the past, the name of Mughal Garden was changed to Amrit Udyan and now West Central Railway has changed the name of Hoshangabad railway station in Madhya Pradesh to Narmadapuram. An official gave this information on Sunday. He said that the West Central Railway has issued a circular on Saturday to change the name of Hoshangabad Railway Station to Narmadapuram Railway Station. As per this circular, it will now be abbreviated as NDPM instead of HBD. Please tell that this station is located about 75 kilometers away from Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh.
Let us inform you that earlier the name of Hoshangabad division has been changed to Narmadapuram division, Hoshangabad district to Narmadapuram district and Hoshangabad city to Narmadapuram city. A notification regarding the name change of Hoshangabad railway station has been issued by the Bhopal division of West Central Railway. It should be noted that in the year 2021, the name of Habibganj station was changed to Rani Kamlapati station. It is said that after the renaming of Hoshangabad district to Narmadapuram by the state government, there was a demand from the people to change the name of Hoshangabad railway station as well. It is believed that in view of the demand of the people, the decision has been taken by the Railways to change the name of this station.
It is worth noting that on February 8 last year, on the occasion of Narmada Jayanti, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced the name of Hoshangabad city as Narmadapuram. However, the name of Hoshangabad railway station was not changed. Till now it was operating under the name of Hoshangabad Railway Station. Now according to the notification issued on 28 January 2023, the name of Hoshangabad Railway Station has been changed to Narmadapuram (NDPM). The effect of this change is also visible. The code NDPM of Narmadapuram has started appearing on the reservation ticket.
