West Zone Inter-University Men’s Kho-Kho Competition is being organized in Dr. Harisingh Gour University from March 10 to 13. 65 universities of western region will participate in this competition. This is the first time that the university is organizing such a high Kho-Kho competition.
While discussing with the journalists regarding the preparations for the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Neelima Gupta said that after a long period of corona, sports activity is starting with a big event in the university campus. A four-day Kho-Kho (Men) competition is being organized by the Department of Physical Education under the joint auspices of the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi and the University. He said that relations with sports are intimate and strong and our body also remains healthy, so one should be associated with sports and every person should have the spirit of sports. Director of Physical Education Department Prof. Ratnesh Das presented a detailed outline about the competition running from 10 to 13 March and gave information about the activities to be organized. He said that according to the criteria, the jury has also been invited, arrangements have been made for the accommodation, food etc. of all the competing teams in the university campus.
Inter-university sports competitions have been held in the university in the past too.
Pro. Das informed that Badminton in the year 2002, Table Tennis in 2010-11, Hockey and Ballywal Inter-University competition in 2011-12 have been successfully organized in the University Sports Complex. Along with this, Inter-University Cricket Competition has also been organized in 2015-16. This competition lasted for 19 days. In this sequence, this event of Kho-Kho (Men) is important in many respects. Arrangements have been made by the university administration for the stay of players and coaches, managers in the competition. The stage was conducted by the media in-charge of the university and the registrar expressed gratitude.
