Beijing. Chinese President Xi Jinping has started the Information Support Force, a new branch of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). He said that it will be a strategic branch and a major pillar of the world’s largest army. Apart from being the chairman of the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC), Xi Jinping also heads the Central Military Commission (CMC), the overall high command of the Chinese military.
Chinese President Xi Jinping said the establishment of the Information Support Force (ISF) is a major decision taken by the CPC and CMC in light of the overall need to build a strong military. The Information Support Force (ISF) is being considered a modified version of the PLA’s Strategic Support Force (SSF), which was established in 2015 to deal with space, cyber, political and electronic warfare.
