Hanging from a skylight in Constitution Hall, the pendulum symbolizes “the integration of the idea of India with the idea of the universe”. At the latitude of Parliament, New Delhi (28.6°N), the pendulum takes approximately 49 hours 59 minutes to complete one rotation in the clockwise direction.

The pendulum in the new Parliament House was designed by the National Council of Science Museum (NCSM) in Kolkata and is said to be the largest such piece in India, measuring 22 meters in height and weighing 36 kg.
