Dr. Dinesh Kumar Tyagi, Additional Director, Internal Medicine Department, Fortis Hospital, Greater Noida told AnyTV. That West Nile virus is primarily spread by mosquitoes. This virus is usually found in Africa, Europe, Middle East, North America and West Asia. When infected with this virus, people start experiencing symptoms like fever, stomach pain, headache, sore throat, loss of appetite, muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, skin rashes and swelling in lymph nodes. If someone sees such symptoms, he should immediately contact a doctor and get treatment.
Dr. Dinesh Kumar Tyagi told that in cases of West Nile fever, symptomatic treatment is done according to the symptoms. If a person gets fever due to this infection, he is given fever medicine. Different medicines are given for other symptoms. There is no separate medicine for it nor is there any vaccine to protect against this virus. To avoid this, it is important to protect yourself from mosquitoes. Many other diseases including dengue, malaria, chikungunya can also spread due to mosquitoes. Therefore, by protecting yourself from mosquitoes, you can avoid many diseases.
Now the biggest question is that many cases of West Nile fever have been reported in Kerala. In such a situation, how much danger is there to the people living in Delhi-NCR and other states. On this, Dr. Tyagi says that since 2011, some cases of this fever have been seen in Kerala. However, its cases have not been reported in Delhi-NCR or other states.
