New Delhi. Rishi Dhawan, who made a huge splash in domestic cricket, was given a chance by Punjab Kings in the match against Chennai Super Kings on Monday. The all-rounder, who was on the field after five years, gave a big success to the team by bowling CSK’s Shivam Dubey for 8 runs. But when he came to the field to bowl, he was wearing a face shield, which remained very much discussed even after the match. Usually face shields are worn to protect against corona, but Rishi Dhawan did this not for the purpose of protection from COVID but as protection. In fact, he had an injury to his nose during the Ranji Trophy for which he had to undergo surgery. So now when he came on the field, he wore a face shield to protect his nose. Rishi Dhawan played his last IPL match against Rising Pune Supergiants for Punjab Kings. In this match, along with scoring 11 not out, he also took 1 wicket for 21 runs in 3 overs.
Rishi Dhawan, born on 19 February 1990 in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, is a right-arm medium-fast bowler. In domestic cricket, Himachal’s team captain Rishi Dhawan has scored 458 runs in 8 matches and also took 17 wickets in the 2020-21 Vijay Hazare Trophy season. It was because of his excellent performance that Himachal was able to win the trophy. Rishi Dhawan became a part of the Punjab team in the first season of IPL in 2008, followed by Mumbai Indians in 2013.
If we talk about international cricket, then Rishi Dhawan has scored 10 runs for India in 4 international matches and has taken 2 wickets. Rishi Dhawan played his last ODI match against Australia on 23 January 2016 while he played his only T20 International against Zimbabwe on 18 June 2016.
