New Delhi. Indian cricket team’s opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad has been appointed as the new captain of Chennai Super Kings. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has left the captaincy of CSK. Right-handed batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad has been scoring runs for CSK for the last several seasons. He has played 6 ODI and 19 T20 International matches for India. 27-year-old right-handed opener Rituraj Gaikwad has been playing for Chennai Super Kings since 2020. Under the captaincy of Dhoni, CSK has won the IPL trophy 5 times. After Dhoni left the captaincy, it is now being speculated that this could be Mahi’s last IPL.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, who debuted in IPL in the year 2020, has played 52 matches so far in which he has scored 1797 runs. During this period, Gaikwad has scored one century and 14 half-centuries. His best score has been 101 runs unbeaten. Gaikwad has hit 159 fours and 73 sixes in his IPL career, while he has also done wonders in fielding and taken 31 catches.

Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 147 in 16 matches in the last season of IPL. 590 runs were scored at a strike rate of 50. During this period he scored 4 half-centuries. The 2021 IPL season was excellent for Gaikwad. He then scored 635 runs in 16 matches which included one century and 4 half-centuries. Ruturaj was the Orange Cap holder in the 2021 IPL. Then CSK won the IPL trophy for the fourth time.
Dhoni’s IPL captaincy record
Mahendra Singh Dhoni captained 212 matches in IPL in which the team was successful in winning 128 matches while CSK had to face defeat in 82. Dhoni had said goodbye to international cricket on 15 August 2020. Under his captaincy, Team India captured the T20 World Cup title, the 2011 ODI World Cup trophy and the Champions Trophy in 2013.
