In the 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), former Chennai Super Kings team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has so far come on the field to bat 5 times out of 7 matches. Whenever Dhoni enters the field with the bat, the passion of the fans present inside the stadium is clearly visible from their noise. Dhoni’s form has also been very good with the bat so far this season, in which he played an unbeaten inning of 28 runs with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes in just 9 balls in the match against Lucknow Super Giants. Played an important role in taking it beyond 170. Looking at Dhoni’s form, many cricket experts along with fans are quite surprised by his decision of not batting in the top order, about which CSAK team head coach Stephen Fleming has now made a big revelation.
Dhoni is currently recovering from knee pain.
After the match against Lucknow Super Giants, CSK team head coach Stephen Fleming, while answering the question regarding Dhoni not batting in the top order in the press conference, said that Dhoni’s knee pain is not completely cured yet. This has happened and in such a situation he can play only a few balls. I can understand that everyone wants to see Dhoni batting on the field for a longer period of time, but we want to see him play throughout the tournament. That’s why he is batting only 2 to 3 overs which is the best thing for us. He is also playing this role very well and everyone is enjoying watching him play.
During his statement, Fleming also said about the madness of the fans present in the stadium regarding Dhoni, what a tremendous atmosphere there is when he enters the stadium to bat. He also leaves no stone unturned in entertaining the fans. We are absolutely proud of his achievements. He is the heartthrob of all the fans along with the team.
Dhoni reached sixth place in the list of players who scored the most runs in IPL.
With his innings of 28 runs in the match against Lucknow Super Giants, MS Dhoni has overtaken AB de Villiers to become the sixth highest scorer in IPL. Dhoni has so far played 257 matches and scored 5169 runs with an excellent average of 39.45, which also includes 24 half-centuries. During this period, Dhoni has returned to the pavilion unbeaten 92 times, which is more than any other player in IPL history.
