The EU is leaving no stone unturned to isolate Russia over the Ukraine war. The EU’s chief executive said on Wednesday that Russia’s oil will also be banned in a phased manner. The European Union has already banned Russia’s top banks and Russian broadcasters through European airwaves.
If countries in the European Union agree to this, then countries dependent on Russia for oil will have to find different options. Let us tell you that Russia attacked Ukraine on 24 February. Since then, pictures of the brutality of Russian soldiers in Ukraine have also come to the fore. Western countries are very angry about this attack of Russia and the EU including America has imposed many types of sanctions.
European Union President Ursula von der Leyen said, “Today we will bring a proposal to impose sanctions on Russian oil.” We want to impose a complete import ban on Russia. He said that the ban would be imposed in a phased manner. Import of crude oil will be banned within 6 months and then refined products will not be imported till the end of 2022.
Let us inform that since the beginning of this year, the price of Brent crude has seen a jump of 37.5 percent. He said, we know that many countries are dependent on Russia for oil imports. In such a situation, it will not be easy to impose this ban, but still if we want to do it, then some options will have to be found. Putin will have to pay the price for his anger.
