Speaking at the launch of the IBM Security Command Center for Asia Pacific in Bangalore, Chandrashekhar said, “India is the second most affected country in the world in terms of cyber attacks. Indian-CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) has reported 100 million cyber incidents so far.
He said, in view of the current situation, the government is going to make new regulations. Under this, organizations will be responsible for giving information about cyber crimes. With this arrangement, they will not be able to suppress information about such attacks.
According to Chandrashekhar, it is important that the government and agencies have complete information about the cyber risks and activities related to them in the country. The priority of the government is to make the cyber sector secure and reliable. Internet should be reliable and free as well as secure. Therefore, the government is investing heavily in increasing the capacity to prevent cyber attacks. Also the intermediaries working on the Internet must be accountable to the customers.
At the ceremony, IBM India Managing Director Sandeep Patel announced the establishment of the company’s second Security Command Center and the first of its kind in the Asia Pacific region. He told that the purpose of this is to provide technical training regarding cyber security.
Patel said the investment also includes a new security operations center, which will provide security services to customers in different countries.
