New Delhi: People of most of the states of the country have no hope of getting respite from the scorching heat even today. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of heat wave in West Bengal and Odisha. Apart from this, heat wave is likely to continue till April 30 in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Konkan, Goa, Kerala, Mahe and Interior Karnataka.
Maharashtra is also facing severe heat
The weather department has issued a heatwave alert for Maharashtra’s Thane, Raigad districts and parts of Mumbai from April 27 to 29. The temperature is likely to reach its peak on April 27 and 28. Jalgaon, Maharashtra recorded 42.7 degrees Celsius on Thursday. This was the highest maximum temperature of the area.
People of these states will get relief from the heat
According to the Meteorological Department, strong winds (40-50 km per hour) with hailstorm, thunderstorm and lightning are likely to occur at isolated places in Punjab, Haryana and East Madhya Pradesh on April 27. People of these states can get relief from the heat due to rain and strong winds. At the same time, till April 29, there will be sporadic rainfall with thunderstorms in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Meanwhile, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely over Sikkim on April 28.

The national capital Delhi recorded the hottest day of the season on Friday when the mercury crossed 40 degrees Celsius for the first time. However, in the evening there were strong winds and light rain. For Saturday, the weather office has predicted partly cloudy sky, thundershowers and light rain with strong winds at a speed of 25 to 35 km per hour. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 39 and 24 degrees Celsius respectively.
