New Delhi, May 12 (IANS)| As soon as the 5G facility starts in India, within a year, at least 40 million smartphone users will have adopted 5G. This was claimed in a report on Wednesday. In fact, India may see the most trend of upgrades, where 67 per cent users say they will adopt 5G as soon as it becomes available. There has been an increase of 14 percentage points in this desire of the people as compared to 2019.
A new report by Ericsson ConsumerLab describes how 5G is already beginning to trigger new user behaviour. Nitin Bansal, Head of Network Solutions, Ericsson India, and Head of Network Solutions, Ericsson South East Asia, Oceania, said in a statement, “Given that Indian service providers are preparing to roll out 5G, the study provides some interesting consumer insights into 5G. Which will help them to adopt 5G and meet consumer expectations.
In addition to reducing Wi-Fi usage, early 5G users spend an average of two hours more on cloud gaming and an hour on augmented reality (AR) apps per week than 4G users. While 5G users are satisfied with the speed, around 70 per cent are also dissatisfied with the availability of innovative services and new apps.
Consumers say they are also willing to pay 20-30 per cent more for 5G plans related to digital service use cases. Seven out of 10 early adopters of 5G in India are expecting better speeds than 4G. The report traces consumer sentiment and sentiment from 26 markets, including the US, UK, China and South Korea.
