Last year everyone had to face the lockdown due to Corona. Everyone was imprisoned in their respective homes during the lockdown. This lockdown of almost three months had a very bad effect on everyone’s mental state. As soon as the lockdown was over, everyone went to visit their favorite places. However, suppose if this lockdown is not three months, but 9 years old! Feeling the same is 58-year-old Don Steele, who lives in Birmingham, who has been imprisoned in his house for the last 9 years. Although the reason for being in captivity is not a punishment, it is because of his illness and non-cooperation by the construction company.
In the year 2013, Don had his knee operated on. After which he had to sit on a wheelchair. Since then she has not been able to leave her home. There has been a dispute between him and the company that maintains the property over this matter for years. Don had asked the company to build a wheelchair ramp outside his house. However, even after years have passed, the company is not listening to them. Don also pays 2000 pounds to the company every year to maintain the house.
Don says that she talked to the company officials several times about this and asked them to get a wheelchair ramp built. Although he is not listening to them. Due to this, it has become difficult for him to go out of the house for the last 9 years. In case of emergency, she takes the help of the people around her. He also has to depend on delivery facilities and ambulances for things like buying goods and going to the hospital. Due to this, Dawn has now made up her mind to fight a legal battle against the company and to collect the lawyer’s fees, she is raising funds through crowdfunding.
Talking about her mother, Don’s daughter Laura says that the case has had a deep impact on her mother’s mind. She feels alone in her own house.
