German dictator Adolf Hitler, notorious for his cruelty around the world, shot himself on 30 April 1945. As soon as Hitler died, most of the people close to him started committing suicide. Among them was Hitler’s colleague Joseph Goebbels. Goebbels and his wife Magda committed suicide by poisoning their six children.
Actually, the news of Hitler’s death was given to the people of Germany after 10 o’clock on the night of May 1. The people of Germany were told that Hitler was killed while fighting, while after his death his body was burnt after pouring petrol in the garden of the Chancellery. After Hitler’s death, his close ones were also going through the same fear, due to which Hitler committed suicide.
However, some of Hitler’s close associates contacted the Soviet forces through mediators but things did not materialize. It was said on behalf of the Soviet Army that only unconditional surrender would be valid. In such a situation, Hitler’s companion Joseph Goebbels planned suicide. Goebbels also considered it necessary to kill like Hitler because he too suspected the dead body to be vandalized after death. As happened with the Italian dictator Mussolini.
Joseph Goebbels, with the help of a doctor, administered anesthesia to his six children. All these children were from 4 to 12 years old. After this, Magda, the wife of Goebbels, put a few drops of cyanide in the mouths of these children one by one. Within moments all the children were dead. After this, weeping, Magda reached out to her husband Joseph Goebbels.
At eight thirty at night Joseph Goebbels put on his uniform, put on gloves and a hat. He came out of the bunker with his wife Magda from the stairs. Then he chewed on the capsule of cyanide, he died within seconds. Later Soviet soldiers fired two shots at his body to find out whether he died or not. After this their dead bodies were set on fire.
