Today the story of Carlos the Jackal, who was called the most dangerous terrorist of the 20th century. At one time people started calling him another name for fear and death. From the 1970s to the next two decades, Carlos was involved in terrorist incidents in Europe, the Middle East and African countries. He was also one of the main suspects in the Munich attack, trained by Wadi Haddad.
The real name of Carlos the Jackal is Ilyich Ramirez Sánchez. Ilich Ramírez was born on October 12, 1949, in Caracas, Venezuela. Ilyich considered himself a revolutionary. He went to school in the beginning but was expelled from the university during the 1970s due to poor studies. Ramirez then joined the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), where he was given the name “Carlos”.
After arms training in Jordan, Carlos was sent on a mission to France. He was to assassinate Marks & Spencer chairman Joseph Edwards on December 30, 1973. Carlos entered the house and opened fire, but Joseph survived. He failed on his first mission. However, he had a major role in the murder of Israeli players in the Munich Olympic Village in the 70s.
In 1974, Carlos made a grenade attack on a shopping center in France. Where two people died and 34 people were seriously injured. He was now on the radar of the French police and agency, but he kidnapped the ministers of oil-producing countries in Vienna on December 21, 1975. Then he was taken hostage and taken by plane to Algeria. His target was the ministers of Saudi Arabia and Iran.
In this kidnapping, he was ordered by the leader of the Palestinian conflict, Wadi Haddad, to kill the ministers of Saudi Arabia and Iran, but he left them with $ 50 million. Then the plaintiff Haddad kicked him out of the PFLP in 1976. He then carried out four bombings in Paris and Marseilles in 1982 and 83, for which he was sentenced to life twice in 2011 and 2013. Then Carlos received life imprisonment for the third time in 2017.
