Today the talk of the person who was the chairman and CEO of companies like Renault and Nissan but had to run away from the flight after being locked in a box. We are talking about Carlos Gone who was placed under house arrest in Japan. When Carlos came out of the country in this strange way, he had put the whole incident in front of the whole world through an interview.
While talking to the BBC, Carlos had told that this incident is from 2019. Carlos said that in December he disguised himself and chose a big music box to move out of Japan. Then some people loaded the box into the plane in which I was sitting and then after several hours of flight reached my home country of Lebanon. Carlos said that at that time he was the chairman of both the Japanese company Nissan and the French company Renault.
In fact, Carlos was accused by Nissan of underreporting his annual salary and also misusing the company’s funds. Then after some time when there were differences between the two companies, he was arrested in the year 2018. Carlos told the BBC that I was arrested at Tokyo airport. He then took us to a detention center, where we were put in jail clothes and kept in a cell.
According to Carlos, he could not understand anything during his stay in the detention center. Even he did not know when the case would start in this case and if found guilty in the case, there would be at least 15 years of imprisonment. Then when he was not even allowed to meet his wife, Carlos made a plan to escape to Japan. Carlos says I wanted that no one outside would recognize me, so chose a big box.
Japan used to have many music concerts in those days, so they chose a box containing a large musical instrument. Then Carlos somehow came out of the detention center and arrived in Osaka city of Japan by train wearing simple clothes. Where a private plane was waiting for them. Then I got off the train and reached the hotel and I locked myself in that box and it was loaded into the plane.
As soon as the plane took off, he felt that he was now free, but before leaving the plane, Carlos had been locked in this box for about one and a half hours. After this the plane was changed in Turkey and then by another plane he reached Beirut in Lebanon. Carlos reported that many of his co-workers were placed under house arrest and hostage in Japan. However, his son Peter and another American man, Michael Taylor, were sentenced to three years in prison for helping Carlos.
