New Delhi. After the performance of the wrestlers, the central government has taken an important decision. Under this decision, a committee has been formed to investigate the allegations of the wrestlers. This committee will investigate and submit its report in 4 weeks. Also, during the investigation, Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh will stay away from the day-to-day functioning of the federation. Accusing Brij Bhushan of sexual exploitation and other allegations, 30 wrestlers started demonstrating from last Wednesday. These wrestlers have called off their sit-in demonstration after forming an inquiry committee and banning Brij Bhushan’s work for the time being.
After talking to the wrestlers, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur told the media that we discussed with the players. The government had also issued a notice to the Wrestling Federation of India in this matter and sought a reply within 72 hours. He said that an inspection committee has been formed. This committee will complete the investigation in 4 weeks. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh will also be involved in this investigation. Till the investigation is done, this committee will keep an eye on the day-to-day activities of the Wrestling Federation of India. 7 people have been kept in this committee. Among them are boxer Mary Kom, wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, Dola Banerjee, Alaknanda Ashok, Sahdev Yadav and two lawyers.
Wrestler Bajrang Punia, who was protesting after the government’s announcement to form a committee for investigation and stop Brij Bhushan from his daily work, welcomed it. Bajrang Punia said that the Union Sports Minister has assured proper investigation after listening to our demands. We thank them. Bajrang said that we expect a fair investigation. For this reason, we are ending the protest for the time being. Now after 4 weeks the fate of Brijbhushan Sharan Singh will be decided after the report of the inspection committee comes. However, Brij Bhushan is constantly saying that all this is politically motivated. He has also said that if even a single case of sexual abuse is proved, he will hang himself.
