Will stop Delhi-Noida milk and vegetables
Yes, it was decided in the meeting held in Muzaffarnagar that on 5th June the borders of Delhi would be gheraoed. SKM, another farmer’s organization, has announced a nationwide protest on June 1 in support of the wrestlers. Naresh Tikait, who belongs to Balayan Khap and brother of BKU spokesperson Rakesh Tikait, has said that the Khap Panchayats of Haryana, Punjab, UP, and Rajasthan will take a big decision if the central government does not accept the demands of the wrestlers. This also includes stopping the supply of milk and vegetables in Delhi and NCR region.
The wrestlers stayed in Haridwar for about two hours. He gave the medal bag to Tikait and another farmer leader Baba Shyam Singh Malik. Tikait told reporters that he needed training on mats in the akhada and stadium but he was forced to sit at Jantar Mantar and has now come to Ganga Ghat. Instead of manhandling and detaining him, action should have been taken against Brij Bhushan. We are with the wrestlers in this fight.
Farmer leader gave 5 days ultimatum!
Tikait has said, ‘We are giving the government five days to take action against Brij Bhushan. Consider this as our ultimatum. This is a fight for justice. If the government does not do anything, then we will do something big and the government will be responsible for it. According to the report of Sabi Hussain of our associate newspaper TOI, on Tuesday, on the day of Ganga Dussehra, the wrestlers were prevented from flowing the medals by the Ganga River Conservation Committee. Nitin Gautam, president of the Ganga Sabha, the apex body of priests in Haridwar, had already said, ‘Har ki Paidi is only for religious activities. No political activity is allowed. Ganga Sabha will stop if wrestlers still use this place for demonstration.
On the other hand, the Delhi Police has made it clear that the wrestlers will not be allowed to protest at India Gate. This national monument is not a demonstration site. It is reported that the wrestlers are about to go on an indefinite hunger strike at the India Gate War Memorial. If the wrestlers ask for permission, they will be provided with an alternative venue.
The wrestlers have told Tikait, the head of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKU), that if nothing happens in five days, they will come back to Har Ki Paadi and throw the medals won in the Olympics, Asia and CWG into the Ganga. Farmer leaders have persuaded and assured the wrestlers that now they themselves will fight for the arrest of WFI President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. All this will happen in five days. Brijbhushan has faced serious allegations of sexual harassment.
