However, this victory was not easy for Ravi and he had to struggle. He took the win against Abdullaev after going down 8-10 in the last moments. The silver-medallist had earlier won against Iran’s Mohammadbagher Ismail Yakhkeshi in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Among other wrestlers, Deepak Punia defeated Kazakhstan’s Elkhan Asadov 7-1 in the bronze medal round of 92kg, Aman won the bronze in 57kg category and Gyanendra won the bronze in 60kg category.
Ravi Dahiya became only the second Indian wrestler to win a silver medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo last year when he lost 4-7 to defending world champion Javur Uguay in the men’s freestyle 57kg title bout.
Ravi rose to prominence when he qualified for the Tokyo Games with a bronze medal attempt at the 2019 World Championships in Nur Sultan.
