Lucknow. The Yogi government is engaged in the mission of finding talented players from every village of the state and preparing them for the Olympic Games. The government is coming soon with the new sports policy 2022 of UP. In the recent past, the Yogi cabinet has passed new policies one after the other to energize various sectors. The new sports policy of the state is also an important part of this episode. The government will also set up the UP Sports Development Fund to provide world class training and support to the talented sportspersons, for which a plan with an initial budget of Rs 100 crore is ready.
Sports authority will be formed in UP
According to Additional Chief Secretary Sports, Dr. Navneet Sehgal, the new sports policy 2022 will increase the chances of Uttar Pradesh players winning maximum medals in the Olympic Games. Sports talents from remote rural areas will be identified and all kinds of facilities related to sports will be made available to them along with training. There are a lot of talented players at the local level who will be roped in for training. Along with this, a sports authority will be formed in UP and a state level training institute will also be opened for sportspersons in the state.
30 thousand new playgrounds will be built
The Additional Chief Secretary said that the proposed sports policy has been prepared with the aim of promoting sports with a scientific approach. Under this, a playground will be set up in every village of the state. He told that at present there are about 30,000 playgrounds in the state, a target has been set to double them to 60,000. Apart from this, financial facilities will also be made available to private sports academies.
Government will appoint foreign coaches
Additional Chief Secretary informed that under the new sports policy, UP Sports Development Fund will be created with an initial budget of Rs 100 crore. This will be used for purchase of sports equipment, foreign training camps, appointment of physiologists, psychologists and foreign coaches. District sports centers will also be set up in every district. Apart from this, 14 Centers of Excellence will be established in the next five years for high quality training for the players representing the state and the country in national and international competitions. Along with this, physio trainer and dietician will be appointed in every circle. A talent search committee will be constituted in every district to find hidden sports talents.
