The Central Government is constantly striving to make the traffic smooth and safe. Along with tightening the traffic rules, the government also gives necessary instructions from time to time for the vehicle manufacturers. Now the government is going to bring a new rule to add a new safety feature in vehicles. According to media reports, the government will soon make it mandatory for automakers to provide three-point seatbelts on all car seats, in which seat-belts will also be available for the third passenger sitting in the middle of the back seat. .
An official of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has given this information to the media. At present, most cars produced in the country get three-point seatbelts, also known as Y-shaped belts, for only the front seats and two passengers in the rear seats. However, these cars are provided with three-point seat belts for only two passengers in a seat called the rear or second row. On the other hand, only two-point seat belts are available for the passenger sitting in the middle, as you get to see in planes.

The MoRTH is likely to issue a notification in this matter in about a month, after which suggestions from the public will be sought. Three-point seat belts are generally considered safer than lap belts. They provide better safety to the passengers especially in case of any accident. Now soon this rule will be made public and it will be mandatory for all automakers to use it in their vehicles.
Notably, last month, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways approved a draft notification making it mandatory for car manufacturers to offer at least 6 airbags in vehicles that can seat 8 passengers. In the last few years, the government has been implementing many rules for the prevention of road accidents and road safety.
