Leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will play for Kent in county cricket after being left out of the 15-man squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup by the Indian selectors, according to The Times of India. Let us tell you that Chahal will be seen playing in county cricket for the first time.
BCCI sources said, ‘Kent County Cricket Club will make an official announcement regarding this soon. Chahal will play three-four ODI matches for them. BCCI has given him NOC to play county cricket. If the Indian team requires him, Chahal will immediately join the national team.
Chahal has played only 2 ODI matches in 2023 and he has taken 3 wickets. The 33-year-old has taken 121 wickets in 72 ODIs and 96 wickets in 80 T20s. Speaking to TOI, Chahal said that he hopes he won’t have to wait too long to return to the Indian team.
Chahal said, ‘Naturally, it is very disappointing for India to miss out on any selection. As a cricketer we must accept that some things do not always go our way. I should try my best and hopefully my performance will justify my selection for India again.
