Actually, the Central Government has reduced the waiting time for new connections by amending the consumer rights rules.
According to the new amendment, now metro cities will get a new electricity connection in three days instead of seven days. Whereas in municipal areas it has been reduced from 15 days to 7 days. In rural areas the waiting time for new connections has now been reduced to 15 days.
You can apply for electricity connection by visiting the website of the electricity distribution company of the state in which you live. You can also visit the nearest power house. Electricity connection charges vary from state to state, if you live in Uttar Pradesh it is Rs 10 for BPL card holders and Rs 100 for others.
