The recently constructed floating bridge on the Beypore beach located in Kozhikode, Kerala has become a center of attraction for tourists. The bridge built by the Department of Tourism and Ports molds itself according to the flow of water and gives tourists the feeling of walking on the waves.
The bridge can carry 500 people at a time. However, keeping in mind the security, only 50 people are allowed on the bridge. It is mandatory to wear a life jacket during this time. Timings to visit the bridge are from 11 am to 6 pm.
Made from HDPE Bricks
The bridge is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) bricks. 1300 HDPE bricks have been used in the construction of the bridge.
The weight of each brick is 7 kg. These bricks are hollow, so that they can easily float on water. The bridge has been strengthened through 31 anchors of total 100 kg. The bridge has been given a width of 15 meters at the end, from where there is an excellent view of the sea.
