Navratri 2022 Vrat Niyam: Navratri has special significance among Hindus. The nine forms of Durga Maa are specially worshiped on this day. This time the festival of Navratri is starting from 02 April 2022, which will end on 10 April. Therefore, nine forms of Mother Durga are worshiped with rituals for the entire nine days, as well as the devotees of Mata Rani keep a fast on this day.
There are some special rules for keeping fast for nine days of Navratri, which are very important to follow. In such a situation, if you are also keeping a fast for Navratri, then you have to take care of what to eat and what not to eat during this time.
Keep yourself healthy like this: More than half of India’s population fasts for nine days during Navratri, so you should not go hungry for long hours. This can cause acidity, constipation, heaviness in the head, nervousness. Try to have 1 big and 2-3 small meals a day, which can include fruits, dry fruits, milk, juice, light snacks. Apart from this, you can eat light food in dinner which can be easily digested. Keep in mind that during the fast, instead of doing heavy workouts along with devotion, do yoga, meditation, pranayama, walk.
What not to eat on Navratri:
- Meat, alcohol should be completely avoided during Navratri fast.
- Onion and garlic should not be used in Navratri fasting food.
- Do not eat ordinary salt during fasting during Chaitra Navratri, if you want to eat salt, then add rock salt instead.
- Be it buckwheat or something else, try to avoid eating fried puris, pakodas or potato chips.
- Avoid high sugar foods, fries made from potatoes, spicy and fried things.
- Replace sugary and carbonated beverages with low-fat milk smoothies, fruits and fruit juices.
- Do not drink tea empty stomach as soon as you wake up in the morning as it can cause acidity and gas.
What to eat during Navratri fast:
- You can drink pomegranate, seasonal or orange juice during Navratri fast.
- Drink more and more water during the fast so that you do not have to face the problem of dehydration.
- If you want, you can eat Makhane and peanuts by frying them in light ghee on the day of fasting.
- If you want to eat healthy food during Navratri fast, then you can eat carrot or gourd kheer on this day.
- Instead of water, you can include coconut water, curd, sweet lassi, juice and water-rich fruits like melon and watermelon in the fast.
- Sabudana and water chestnut flour contain elements like protein, calcium, magnesium, so make it a part of your diet.
- The high carbohydrate and low-fat makhana will help keep you full of energy during the fast.
- Do eat handful of dry fruits. It will also give you energy and will also keep hunger under control.
