After making it, you can make many tasty dishes of tofu from it.
This is how to make Tofu from lentils-
Firstly put 1 cup masoor dal in a bowl. Fill it with water, wash it gently and drain the water. Repeat this step at least 3-4 times to clean the lentils. Now put the washed lentils in another bowl and add 1½ cups boiling water to it. Let it sit for about 20 minutes. When the water cools down, put the lentils in the blender along with the water. Now blend it to make a smooth mixture. Blend it for 15 seconds. Add about a cup more water, if needed. Make a smooth paste by adding water by scraping the edges in between. Now boil 1½ cups of water in a pan. Add the dal mixture to the pan and mix. Cook it on medium flame for about 8-10 minutes. Keep stirring occasionally so that it doesn’t stick to the bottom. After about 8 minutes, you will see the mixture thicken. Switch off the flame and let it cool down for about 10 minutes. Now take a glass container and pour the mixture in it. Spread it evenly. The thickness of this layer should be at least 1 inch. Now cover the container with a lid and keep the tofu in the fridge for about 4-5 hours or overnight. After it sets, take out the tofu, cut it into small pieces. You can store it in an airtight container in the fridge and it will easily last for 4-5 days. Masoor Dal Tofu can be used in stir-fry, vegetable, salad or any other dish.
