Everyone knows that Navjot Singh Sidhu used to play cricket for India and Imran Khan for Pakistan, but perhaps no one would know that their friendship is such that people’s fingers start pointing to Sidhu as a ‘non-nationalist’. Pakistan was born to oppose India, which we are facing till today. Punjab politics in particular is witnessing a strange turmoil as Sidhu is trying to consolidate his grip on politics. Because of his oratory, he has started living in ‘discussion’ everywhere. The situation has reached to such an extent that now the people of the country have started doubting even their gestures.
Meanwhile, former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s revelation that ‘Navjot Singh Sidhu’s ministerial post was recommended by the current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan by calling from his ‘special’ has become a very serious matter. After this revelation of the captain, it would have been understood by the common people that why Sidhu was angry with the captain. It is true that the politics of Punjab never faced such turmoil, but the atmosphere changed as soon as Navjot Singh Sidhu entered politics. The thing to understand is that his leg was never fixed with any one party. Sometimes he claimed to be the younger brother of Sukhbir Singh Badal, sometimes claimed to be close to the Prime Minister of the BJP, and now he is trying to dig the root of Congress and bury it by putting whey in it. Sidhu, who specializes in reciting the same jumla and the same Sher-o-shayari in different meetings, is slowly starting to open.
Today, India is moving fast and seriously in the direction of making its own identity in the world, taking a very difficult path. Now no one in the country will accept the conspiracy that will be hatched in the way of its development, no matter which party he belongs to. Every person of India lives for the self-respect of his country and dreams of protecting it. In that too Punjab, which is the kingdom of warriors, the kingdom of intellectuals, how can one see his country being trapped again in the trap of slavery.
Certainly it is sad and shameful for Navjot Singh Sidhu to recommend himself to Pakistanis. If Sidhu has committed such a mistake, then he should introspect and apologize to the nation for it. In a letter dated 11 July 1947 to the British officer Bozeman, Sardar Patel agreed with the officer’s views that ‘the partition of India was unfortunate, but at that time he had no choice’. He expressed his aspiration that one day Pakistan will join India. If there is a possibility of Sardar Patel’s prediction coming true, then the country needs to think deeply, but if it is not so and attempts are being made to break the country by making such efforts, then it should be thoroughly investigated. This is because, for whom such things have been done day after day, due to which Sidhu’s character is now surrounded by doubts.
The way Sidhu has been controversial since the beginning, even the Prime Minister’s reaction to it is not good. He even said that the reality of Sidhu has been exposed. Captain Amarinder Singh considers him as his arch opponent. He said that Imran Khan living in Pakistan and a very close friend of Navjot Singh Sidhu had recommended Sidhu to be made a minister in a message sent to him over the phone. The Captain said that since I had never met Imran Khan nor did I know him personally, I was not only surprised to see such a message, but it was a big shock that a person should be given the post of Punjab Minister. How other country’s prime minister and his close ones are putting pressure.
Capt Amarinder Singh has been involved in the war against Pakistan and has long experience in politics in the frontier region, but has now drifted away from the mainstream political stream. Navjot Singh Sidhu has played a major role in separating him from the mainstream of politics, so it is possible that Sidhu is venting his pain and annoyance! There must be a serious inquiry into the allegations leveled by the Captain on Sidhu. Is it not that the Captain is blaming such a serious allegation on Sidhu in order to remove the silliness. Be that as it may, there must be a high level inquiry into these allegations of the Captain. The truth is that it was Sidhu who made the Captain stand on the political margins by leveling outrageous allegations and also pushed the Punjab Congress into the trough. Don’t know what the Captain without Congress will be able to do in Punjab in this assembly election.
When Navjot Singh Sidhu was asked his side on the allegation made by Captain Amarinder Singh, he targeted the Captain and said that what to kill the dead. This was a strange answer. The truth is that the Congress has split in Punjab and Sidhu is believed to be the first reason for this. When the Congress was defeated in all the states in the last elections, it was Captain Amarinder Singh who had pulled the Congress boat out of the vortex with his own wisdom. But, it was Sidhu who had poisoned him so much that he eventually had to say ‘bye-bye’ to the Congress with his resignation as the chief minister.
In the first elections in Punjab, Akalis used to be in front, but now this fight is divided into four parties. It is the result of the mutual split of the Congress that the Aam Aadmi Party has strengthened its hold there and it is now demanding to capture the power of Punjab. Why all this happened is a matter of intense discussion, but it is enough that Sidhu has had some role and conspiracy in weakening the ruling Congress. I don’t know why common voters are not able to understand the longing of this person that it starts digging the root of the person with whom it happens. The Aam Aadmi Party, including the Akali-BJP and the newly formed Captain’s party, will now get the benefit of ousting Captain Amarinder Singh from the Congress.
In the ‘Young India’ dated March 12, 1930, Mahadev Desai writes, I had the privilege of seeing Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in jail with Professor JV Kriplani. His first and last words were that he had never been so happy in life as he is now.… As we were leaving, the Sardar said, ‘Don’t worry about me. I am happy like a bird. There is only one thing that I am really unhappy about.’ And, he fell silent for a moment. The jail superintendent and the subjailer looked at each other curiously. We were also curious as to what this could be. Why did the Sardar say this, we requested to know. ‘Well,’ said the Sardar, ‘there is one thing and only one thing that worries me and that all the responsible officers of the jail are Indians. It is through us Indians that they run this inhuman system. I wish they were all foreigners, so that I could fight them. But, how can I fight with my own relatives.’
It was a matter of those who laid down their lives for freedom, their thinking was that how can one lakh such Britishers rule them, so in the same way the British used to rule Indians through Indians. His principle was ‘Divide and rule’. Under this policy, he continued to rule for hundreds of years by fighting Hindu-Muslim and straightening his owl. By the way, now there is no British rule and we are free. But, the kind of atmosphere that is now being created in the country, it seems that this principle has been adopted by Pakistan as well. This divide policy has been started by Pakistan for Punjab and which has been revealed by Captain Amarinder Singh. It must be investigated that what is the truth and what is Pakistan trying to feed into our country by trapping Sidhu in its bluff. If the central government does not investigate this, then the general public of the country may not have to bear its serious consequences.
