Lieutenant Governor of the national capital V.K. Saxena has advised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of Delhi to increase the honorarium of Asha workers and release the pending salaries of Anganwadi supervisors as soon as possible. Officials of Raj Niwas gave this information.

Officials said a delegation of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) and Anganwadi workers met Saxena and told him their grievances. He has also demanded the Lieutenant Governor to intervene in this matter.

ASHA workers work as non-medical health workers in the community under the National Health Mission.

Officials said Saxena has advised the AAP government to increase the honorarium given to Asha workers from Rs 3,000 per month to Rs 9,000. The stipend was last increased in 2018. He said that as per the rules, the honorarium should be increased every three years.

Officials said the Lieutenant Governor also asked the Delhi government to pay the pending salaries of Anganwadi supervisors. Supervisors have not received salaries for seven months.
