Bihar: RLJP will contest 243 seats in the upcoming assembly elections

Patna, 13 February (IANS). The National Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), headed by Pashupati Kumar Paras, has announced that his party will field candidates for all 243 seats in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.

The party has also intensified its preparations for the 2025 elections, focusing on organization and Dalit empowerment at the grassroots level.

Paras said, “We have planned to set up an organization at every booth in Bihar. According to this, booth level officers (BLOs) will be appointed in all constituencies. At the ground level to contest all the 243 seats in Bihar. The idea of creating a strong base. “

Paras also announced to organize a workers’ conference in all assembly constituencies by April 2025.

The Dalit branch of RLJP’s Dalit Army will celebrate the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar in Patna on 14 April. Underlining the focus of RLJP on Dalit issues, Dalit army workers will gather from all over Bihar.

State President of RLOJP Prince Raj has directed all the officials and district presidents to install the party flag and nameplate at their residence. Senior activists were assured that strong RLOJP candidates would be fielded in the assembly elections.

Prior to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the RLOJP was part of the NDA alliance and Pashupati Kumar Paras was a cabinet minister in PM Narendra Modi’s government.

However, during the Lok Sabha elections, not a single seat was given to the RLOJP in Bihar, causing a rift. Chirag Paswan joined the NDA, while Pashupati Paras separated himself from it.

Pashupati Kumar Paras invited Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav during the Chuda-Dahi banquet in Patna on Makar Sankranti in January. Lalu Prasad Yadav attended the event organized at Paras’s residence along with his son Tej Pratap Yadav, which intensified the speculation of RLOJP to join the Grand Alliance.

Paras himself has indicated that the coalition will be decided when the election comes close to the election. RLJP contesting all 243 seats independently is a challenge for both NDA and Grand Alliance.
