BJP's way is to oppose good policy, defame and then adopt it under public pressure: Congress

The Congress said on Friday that the government’s decision of caste census is in line with its same policy in which it opposed every good plan or policy first, defame it and then take the same policy in front of public pressure and reality.

The Congress General Secretary (Communications in -charge) alleged that the Modi government only specializes in diverting public attention, running away from real issues and advancing its divisive agenda.

He said in a post written in Hindi on X, “Apart from this, he has neither policy nor any intention, only lies, propaganda and politics of hate.” Caste Census – The same government, which the Modi government tried to suppress for years, finally had to bow down to the opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, Congress party and countless social workers and organizations. It is an important milestone in the fight for social justice. “

He said that the Modi government which was shying away from taking its name till yesterday and leaving no stone unturned to ridicule and evading, today, the huge pressure of the public and the conflict of the opposition, has agreed to hold caste census.

Ramesh said, “In fact, this has been the way of the BJP government – first oppose every good plan or policy, defame it – and when the pressure and reality of the public comes out, then adopt the same policy.”

The Congress leader said, “Recall the Prime Minister called the MNREGA ‘Failure Memorial’ in Parliament – the scheme which the world called the model of rural employment and poverty eradication, was mocked by the same MNREGA, it was said that people are digging pits. But when there was a crisis like corona virus, then the same MNREGA has become the back of the poor of the country. What happened again, what happened?

Ramesh said that the same happened with Aadhaar, when the BJP was in opposition, she used to say “It is a threat to privacy and it is just a political stunt” but as soon as she came to power, it made the same base the basis of the entire welfare system.

Ramesh said, “The story of GST is also no different. When the Congress took the initiative to bring GST, the BJP strongly opposed it and said that it is against the interests of the states. But as soon as she came to power, it implemented it without any major changes and then started praising it by calling it a ‘game changer’.”

He also said that the Congress had made arrangements for direct benefit transfer (DBT), so that the subsidy reached the public’s account directly.

Ramesh said, “At that time the BJP had dismissed it saying ‘it would not work’. But as soon as she came to power, it implemented DBT in the whole country and started beating the drum of ‘Digital India’.”

Ramesh further said that the policy of giving cash assistance to women was launched by the Congress. He said, “The BJP then said-” This is just politics of announcements. ” Today the same government is running separate cash transfer schemes for women.

Talking about the internship/apprenticeship scheme, the Congress had promised an apprenticeship scheme under youth justice for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Ramesh said, “During the elections, the BJP also took a sarcasm on this. But later Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced it in the budget. It is sad that till date it has become only a declaration.”

He said that this list does not end here, in fact these are just some examples.

He said, “The truth is that this government has neither a vision nor a direction to solve problems. This government only specializes in distracting public attention, running away from real issues and furthering its divisive agenda. Apart from this, they have neither policy nor any intention – only false, propaganda and hatred politics.”

The Congress on Thursday claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “specializes in making headlines without a time limit” and the Pahalgam terrorist attack called the government’s decision on caste census as a “strategy to distract attention” in view of the demand for strict action against Pakistan.

Ramesh had said that many questions arise about this decision, especially on the government’s intention, and he asked where is the “deadline for census”. The central government announced that caste census would be part of the next census, which will include caste details for the first time after independence.
