Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his remarks that the Center has allocated three times more funds for the development of Tamil Nadu than before 2014.
The former Union Finance Minister said that even the first year student of economics subject will be able to tell that ‘economic metric’ (size of economy) will always be more than previous years.
Chidambaram said in a post on ‘X’, “Honorable Prime Minister and Union Minister continuously say that he has given more funds to Tamil Nadu in 2014-24 than 2004-14. For example, the Honorable Prime Minister said that his government has given seven times more funds for railway projects in Tamil Nadu than before. ”
The Congress leader said, “Ask the first year student of economics. He will tell you that the economic ‘metric’ will always be more than the previous years. The size of the GDP (GDP) is now larger than before. The size of the Union Budget is larger than the previous year. The total expenditure of the government is larger than the previous year every year. ”
The former Union Finance Minister questioned, “You are one year older than last year. In terms of ‘number’, this number will be large, but is it more than the ratio of GDP or is more than the ratio of total expenditure? ,
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said here on Sunday that the life of Lord Shri Ram and the “inspiration for good governance from his kingdom is the major basis of nation building”.
The Prime Minister said this while addressing the people present on the occasion of the inauguration of the Pambon sea bridge providing the facility of rail connectivity between Rameswaram Island and the mainland area and on the occasion of the new Rameswaram-Tambaram (Chennai) train service.
Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of Rs 8300 crore development projects in Tamil Nadu on the occasion.
