New Delhi, 12 April (IANS). Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta once again stopped her convoy after seeing stray cows on the road. This time he made a special appeal with folded hands to the car driver feeding the cows.
On Saturday, CM Rekha Gupta’s convoy was passing through a busy road in Delhi. Seeing the cows on the road, he immediately stopped his convoy and took stock of the situation. During this time, he looked at a car driver, who was feeding the cows in the middle of the road. The CM humbly requested the car driver not to do so, as it hinders traffic and increases the risk of accidents.
He said, “Serving cows is a virtue, but giving food on the road pose a threat to both animals and people. Please do it in the right place. Cows have a special place in our culture, but we also have to ensure that the roads are safe. I request all the citizens to take care of cows on the roads instead of giving food on the road.”
This is not the first time CM Rekha Gupta has shown activeness on this issue. A few days ago, he also stopped his convoy on Hyderpur flyover, when stray cows were seen on the road. At that time, he had given strict instructions to the officials that concrete steps should be taken to solve the problem of stray animals. He ordered to strengthen the system of cowsheds and implement effective schemes to remove animals from the roads.
The problem of stray animals in Delhi has been going on for a long time. The variance of cows on the roads not only affects traffic, but also causes accidents. Taking this problem seriously, CM Rekha Gupta has appealed to the citizens to cooperate on several occasions.
Some people are praising this move of CM, while some say that the government should first improve the status of cowsheds. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the concerned departments now need to work fast in this direction so that the problem of stray animals can be solved.
