New Delhi, January 14 (IANS). After the election bugle sounded in the country’s national capital Delhi, the eagerness to know about the multiplication of all the assembly seats has reached its peak in the minds of the people. There are total 70 assembly seats in Delhi. All seats are different from each other in many ways.
If we talk about Seemapuri Assembly seat of Delhi, then it is a reserved seat, which is currently held by Aam Aadmi Party. It is part of the East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.
This time, Aam Aadmi Party has fielded former MLA Veer Singh Dhingan on this seat. He has recently left Congress and joined Aam Aadmi Party. While in Congress, he became MLA for three consecutive times in the years 1998, 2003 and 2008. He has long experience in the field of politics. On the other hand, Congress has fielded Rajesh Lilothia on this seat.
It was settled as a slum in the year 1970. In the initial days, mainly Bangladeshis came and lived here. But, later people from states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh also started coming and living here. At present this area has become densely populated.
In this context, if we talk about the 2020 assembly elections, the main contest here was between Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajendra Pal Gautam and Lok Janshakti Party’s candidate Sant Lal. In this election, Rajendra Pal Gautam defeated LJP’s Sant Lal by a margin of 56,108 votes. Rajendra Pal got 88,392 votes, while Sant Lal got 32,284 votes. On the other hand, Congress candidate and three-time MLA Veer Singh Dhingan got only 7,661 votes.
According to the Election Commission, there were a total of 196306 voters on this seat, out of which more than 68 percent i.e. 1,34,437 voters had cast their votes.
Elections are being held continuously here since 1993. In 1993, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Balbir Singh had won here. But, in 1998, Congress candidate Veer Singh Dhingan captured the seat. He hoisted the flag of victory on this seat. After this, the Congress candidate also won the 2003 assembly elections. At the same time, in the 2008 assembly elections also, the Congress candidate won this seat. Circumstances changed in the 2013 assembly elections and Aam Aadmi Party candidate Dharmendra Singh won here and Congress candidate had to face defeat. BJP remained at third position.
In the 2015 assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party changed its strategy and decided to field Rajendra Singh Gautam. He raised the hopes of the party and hoisted the flag of victory here.
If we talk about the results of 2020 assembly elections, Rajendra Pal Gautam once again hoisted the flag of victory here. He won this election by 56,108 votes.
